African Queen Baskets is an enterprise, which embraces the philosophy of trading fairly. Their aim is to be a channel through which talented artisans gain empowerment through their own enterprise, while maintaining their longstanding artistic traditions.

Hand made in Ghana using Elephant Grass. 

Elephant grass grows surrounding waterholes in the Sahel region of West Africa. The strong slender leaves are harvested seasonally by the Fra Fra people of Northern Ghana, then soaked and stretched to produce a fine supple, and extra strong fibre.

Baskets can be soaked in water and reshaped as desired.
